Monday Night iRacing Mid-Season Update

Monday Night iRacing is just over halfway through the season and the Charlotte Phoenix have been racing for a win despite a challenging field of competition. Professional NASCAR driver, James Bickford, has joined together with the Phoenix for our inaugural season of iRacing, bringing years of experience (both on virtual and real-life raceways) to the team.

Born in Napa, California, James Bickford began his racing career in 2002 at the age of 4. He is a NASCAR Whelen All-American Series champion as well as the Sunoco Rookie of the Year and winner in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series.

The first five races of the season position the Phoenix to be a contender in the playoffs, despite not winning a regular-season race. In the Monday Night Racing League, there are two ways to qualify for the post-season: winning a race or earning points through placing well. With the goal of qualifying for playoffs, Bickford and the team have strategized to hopefully earn enough points to secure a spot in Monday Night iRacing post-season races.

“Adding James Bickford to the lineup for the Phoenix was a no-brainer. The passion and skill he brings to racing, in general, is top-notch. He is a great guy, a great racer, and should do great in iRacing as well,” commented Rick Suarez, Managing Director of the Charlotte Phoenix. “We will be rooting for him every Monday, so tune in.”

With four races left in the season, Bickford will focus on racking up points while still trying for a win. The Charlotte Phoenix competes in the Monday Night Racing League and each race is broadcast on our Twitch channel every Monday at 8 PM.
