We talked with Nicholas “Nicktherogue” Keitz, a Rogue player on our Charlotte Phoenix World of Warcraft team. Nick finished 1st in the recent Method Mayhem NA 5v5 and 2nd in the Method Mayhem NA 3v3 Tournaments. He also finished 3rd in the GCDTV 2v2 Winter Brawl NA #1 Tournament.

Nicktherogue gives us some insight into his life outside of WoW, what he’s most proud of, and what he plans to study in college. Keep reading to learn more about Nick, including his thoughts on PVE and PVP play, his favorite content to watch, and his past baseball career.

What are some things you like about being home right now?

Being able to sleep in rather then having to wake up for school is probably the best thing about staying home right now.

What is your favorite class to play in WOW and why?

Rogue is my favorite class in the game because it can take control of the game and be the reason why you win. Also, being able to take someone out during a stunlock makes it really fun.

How did you choose your Username/Gamertag?

I chose my username because I didn’t know what to make it, so I just used my real name and then the class I play.

When and how did you start playing video games?

I started playing video games because of my brother. He got me into WoW because his friends were playing it, and then he started to play it as well. After he showed me WoW, I was interested ever since.

How did you decide to go pro in WoW?

I decided to go pro because I realized I am really good at the game, and I would rather play WoW for a living then do anything else.

What is it about WoW that excites you or makes it unique from / more fun than other games?

The amount of classes that WoW has excites me a lot. I’m one of those players who enjoys learning multiple classes. I play almost every class in the game. Also, the player vs. player combat makes WoW very fun.

Who do you look up to the most and why?

I don’t really have a specific person that I look up to. I generally just look up to large WoW streamers or competitive players because watching them compete made me realize that I could play WoW for a living too.

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of how far I have come in WoW. I started when I was around 11 years old, and then 5 years later I became a top player in the game.

Do you watch traditional sports? If so, what is your favorite team?

I used to watch a lot of baseball when I was younger. My favorite team is the New York Yankees.

If you plan to go to college, what do you plan to study?

I plan to go to college, but I don’t really know what for yet. If I had to choose I would probably just go for a business degree.

How well do you know your teammates?

I have known Korlic for 5 years now, but recently just met Burn and Jahmilli.

In your opinion, what is the best raid boss in WOW?

I’m not a big fan of PVE in WoW, but if I had to choose it would be Illidan.

What do you like to do in your free time besides play video games (activities/hobbies)?

Besides playing video games, I enjoy spending time with my family and my dogs.

What video game world would you like to live in?

I would live in WoW because it’s the video game I am best at. Also, since I main rogue, having stealth in real life would be cool.

What is your favorite movie or TV show?

I normally just watch YouTube and Twitch, but if I had to pick a favorite movie it would be Bad Boys For Life with Will Smith.

Who is your favorite singer or band? What music do you listen to while streaming?

My favorite artist is Roddy Ricch. I listen to mostly rap on stream.

If you could instantly become an expert at something, what would it be?

If I could become an expert at something it would probably be a professional baseball player.

Aside from WOW, what are your top 3 favorite video games to play and why?

My top 3 favorite video games would be old Fortnite, PUBG, and Super Smash Bros.

What is your favorite meal or snack?

One of my favorite meals would be a burrito bowl from Chipotle.

What’s something many people fear that doesn’t scare you at all?

I don’t really know to be honest, but I guess dying. Some people are scared of dying, but I know it will eventually happen so it doesn’t scare me.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

If I put my mind to anything I can achieve it.

If you could give advice to players looking to improve at WOW or video games in general, what would your advice be?

The best advice I would have for anyone wanting to improve in video games would just be to play a lot. Also, I recommend that you record your gameplay and look over it. That way you can fix any mistakes you made in past games. Watching pro players can help a lot as well.
