Juan Carlos “dekk0s” Alvarado is a player for the Charlotte Phoenix Call of Duty Challengers team. Dekk0s, who is from California, finished 9th in the CDL Atlanta Home Series.

What are some things you like about being home right now?

I like that I can dedicate more time to my craft.

What is your favorite weapon to use in CoD & what is your favorite map?

My favorite weapon in CoD has to be the BAL. Favorite map of all time is Raid from Black Ops 2.

In your opinion, what is the best CoD game of all time and why?

I believe the best CoD game of all time is Black Ops 2. The game provided so many gold standards for the CoD franchise that has lasted longer than the game’s age.

What is it about CoD that excites you or makes it unique from / more fun than other games?

The competitiveness drives me to greatness.

How do you feel about CoD Warzone?

It’s really fun, but there are a few things I would like to see fixed such as hacking.

How did you choose your username/gamertag?

I was looking for a gamertag back in the Xbox 360 era, and dekk0s sounded like it fit me perfectly. Don’t ask why it fit because even I don’t know why, even to this day. I just know I was right, haha.

When and how did you start playing video games?

I’ve been gaming ever since my Mom bought my a Gameboy color for Christmas one year.

How did you decide to go pro in CoD?

I realized how much potential I truly have in this game, and I have not looked back since.

Who do you look up to the most and why?

I draw a lot of inspiration and power from Kobe Bryant. His mentality, and the way he carried himself is the blueprint that I try my best to recreate and follow.

Do you have any pets? If so, what kind? And what is their name?

I have a 5-year-old, orange cat named Zeus.

What are you most proud of?

Being able to help others around me.

Do you watch traditional sports? If so, what is your favorite team?

My favorite teams are the Lakers for the NBA and Dodgers for the MLB. LA boy for life.

If you attended college, what did you study?

I went to the University of California, Riverside and received my BA in History.

What is the most interesting thing you have done in the past year?

I traveled outside of my state for the first time to Minnesota and Atlanta last year.

Do you have any special talents?

Following through with myself. Whether it be watching VODs, shooting bots, or going to the gym, I follow through for myself.

How well do you know your teammates?

I know Bryan (LuNaTiC) the most. We actually went to school together so I’ve known him since high school, haha.

Do you have any inside jokes with your team? If so, can you describe one?

Yes, we do, haha. Cacits. That’s the joke, haha.

What do you like to do in your free time besides play video games (activities/hobbies)?

I love working out. It’s definitely my 2nd passion to CoD.

What video game world would you like to live in?

I would love to live inside Pokémon. Catch some, train them, and gather my badges!

What is your favorite movie or TV show?

I have 3 shows that I really like: The Office, Dark, and Narcos. No clear favorite though.

Who is your favorite singer or band? What music do you listen to while streaming?

Nipsey Hussle. But I listen to everything, to be honest. My ears have the habit of wanting to be sonically cultured.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Spain. I just think it’s absolutely beautiful, and I love futbol.

If you could instantly become an expert at something, what would it be?

Futbol, for sure.

Aside from CoD, what are your top 3 favorite video games to play and why?

No clear-cut favorite, but these are my top 3 video games: Kingdom Hearts, Pokémon and Dark Souls.

What is your favorite meal or snack?

Ferrero Rocher [Fine Hazelnut Chocolates].

What is something you cannot live without?

My family.

What’s something many people fear that doesn’t scare you at all?

The future.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

“Leave everything out on the floor so that you can’t say you didn’t give it your all.”

If you could give advice to players looking to improve at CoD or video games in general, what would your advice be?

Follow your dream relentlessly and don’t forget that there’s bumps along the road. They’re a part of your story. Embrace them. Overcome them. Follow your greatness.
